Q: Why did you people come up with Mobot, anyway? A: We built Mobot to connect consumers (you guys and us guys) with stuff we like as simply as possible. Everyone loves magazines but until Mobot came along, if you saw something cool in a magazine it was really hard to do anything about it! Now you can Mobot the ad, and instantly get more information, discounts, freebies or maybe just send yourself a reminder to check it out the next time you go shopping. We think that’s pretty cool. Q: So, what’s the catch? Does this cost me money? A: No catch, no small print, it’s really free. Really. Aside from what your mobile phone company charges you (if anything) to send a picture message, the service is completely free to you. We make money from brands who want to give you discounts and stuff for free. Weird but true. Q: Oh, I get it. You will sell my information to people! A: Uh, no. We won’t. Ever. The whole point of Mobot is to connect you with the things and brands YOU choose. We won’t sell your personal info, rent it, barter it, lend it, etc. We will only use it to give you the stuff/information/offers that you choose. We hate spam as much as you do. Though properly spiced and deep fried, it’s not bad, actually. Q: Is every magazine “Mobotized”? A: Not yet—but we’re working on it! Right now, we have an exclusive relationship with JANE magazine but we’ll be adding lots of other magazine titles in the next few months. Eventually, you’ll be able to use Mobot almost anywhere. Q: Is there a limit to the number of ads I can Mobot? A: No. You can Mobot as many different ads as you like. But you only need to take and send a single picture of each ad. In other words, you won’t get three free things if you send us three pictures of the same ad. Q: Is my information safe? A: Yes. We use state of the art security techniques to protect your information. Plus, we don’t ask you for sensitive financial information like credit cards, etc. No one can steal your VISA number from us because we don’t have it! Q: Does Mobot work on anything else—like billboards or logos or posters? A: Not yet, but soon. Stay tuned. Q: Will I ever be able to use Mobot to shop directly from my mobile phone? A: Yes. We’re working very hard on that right now. Soon you’ll be able to purchase directly from your favorite merchants with just a couple of clicks. Q: So, Mobot is cool. Will a zillion other companies try to rip off your idea? A: Probably. We will likely see Grobot, Flobot, Nobot and who knows what else. But we have lots of patented technology. From some really smart folks at MIT of all places. So bring ‘em on. Q: Is Mobot really important and probably the coolest thing ever for mobile phones? A: Why yes. Yes it is.
