With Magic Hour's websites, you can tailor your website's content to specific groups or individuals through the Permissions Manager.
The default website user, before logging in, is a Guest. Once users are logged in, they can see whatever information you want them to see -- and they can't see what they don't have "permission" to see. You can also allow or restrict editing access to content. For example, in one section, you can grant parents the right to view the section, students the right to view the section but not see the photo albums on it, and faculty the right to view and edit articles but not publish them. Site administrators can be granted to do everything.
A great example is classroom pages for complex Guest rights. A teacher's folder could be viewable to guest and contain three items: article of class syllabus, slideshow of recent activities, and discussion forum for students to talk about assignments. With viewing rights set, you can make it so "Guest" visitors can see the syllabus, Parents can see the syllabus and album, and students can see all three.
Another example: you can create various areas in the Student Life for several different student clubs. Select students from each club can be permitted to add content to their section but a faculty adviser/moderator has to approve all content before it is posted live to the site.
